![]() ![]() The stories about Advantage and Fox are why I avoid them, to be honest. It might feel like a hard sell, but I've never had to say anything more than "no" and they move on.įWIW, I have rented from many of the major agencies (Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, National, Enterprise, Budget, etc.) but tend to avoid smaller and/or local agencies out of an abundance of caution. Every rental car agency does this, unless you are a member of their "club" where you already have your preferences indicated in the database. My advice, be ready with the "no, thank you" both verbally and by initially declining the various coverages you don't believe you need or want. I got no hard sell when I went to the counter at all (this was late last summer). They were able to change the pickup time without changing the rate. It turned out my flight was delayed, so I called Hertz to advise them of this. Just to provide some additional feedback, I had a reservation with Hertz to pick up a car in the evening.
